The expansion of the Bina refinery will enable BPCL to meet the increasing demand for petroleum products in central and northern India. It will also provide the necessary feedstock to the Ethylene Cracker complex. Additionally, the petrochemical plant will cater to the growing domestic demand. BPCL is investing around Rs 2,753 crore in petroleum oil lubricants (POL) and lube oil base stock (LOBS) installations in Maharashtra's Rasayani, aiming to enhance storage capacity, streamline the supply chain, and improve the distribution of petroleum products.
Furthermore, BPCL will establish two 50 MW wind power plants in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, contributing to eco-friendly operations and serving the captive consumption needs of the Bina and Mumbai refineries respectively. These projects align with the central government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission and are expected to generate employment opportunities while bolstering sustainable capabilities and facilitating a net zero future.
BPCL's Chairman and Managing Director, G Krishnakumar, emphasized that these initiatives mark a significant milestone in their strategic efforts to meet the growing demand for energy and petrochemical products in India. He highlighted the importance of wind energy and sustainable petroleum installations in their pursuit of a leading role in the industry while supporting economic growth and development in the respective regions.
