"Akasa Air Receives Green Light from Civil Aviation Ministry to Launch International Flights Just Over a Year After Inaugurating Operations"

Within a year of its inception, Akasa Air has secured approval from the Civil Aviation Ministry to initiate international flight services. The airline is actively exploring potential routes to various destinations in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

Despite current challenges related to a shortage of pilots, Akasa Air currently boasts a fleet of 20 aircraft and is determined to kickstart its international flights by the end of the year.

In an announcement made on Wednesday, Vinay Dube, the Founder and CEO of Akasa Air, shared that the ministry has officially conferred upon the airline the status of an international scheduled operator.

"The Ministry of Civil Aviation has acknowledged the operational excellence of Akasa Air, and we have been granted the status of an International Scheduled Operator. This designation marks a significant milestone, as it paves the way for us to commence international flights, bringing us closer to realizing our goal of launching international operations by year-end," stated Dube.

He added, "We are currently collaborating with relevant authorities to secure traffic rights, and we anticipate making an announcement soon regarding the specific international destination that Akasa Air will serve."

Which destinations will Akasa Air target?

Dube conveyed that the airline's primary emphasis lies on selecting destinations that fall within the range of a Boeing 737 MAX departing from India, encompassing regions in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.

He further mentioned, "We are also making significant progress towards unveiling a three-digit aircraft order by the close of this year to cater to the escalating demand for travel. Our unwavering commitment to meticulous planning and our seasoned team has consistently prioritized reliability and customer satisfaction, propelling us to become one of the fastest-growing airlines in the annals of civil aviation."
