This deal is unique for the IT major, as it involves building Asda's digital infrastructure from the ground up without any legacy technology.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered a multi-year partnership with Asda, a British retail giant. TCS aims to leverage data and AI to revolutionize Asda's core operations, employee experience, and supply chain. The partnership focuses on Asda's digital transformation post-separation from Walmart.

TCS will establish a new digital core for Asda, integrating cloud-based ERP platforms and automating IT operations with the Machine First™ Delivery Model to enhance employee and customer experiences.

In addition, this partnership will utilize TCS' cloud, AI, and security solutions to facilitate Asda's secure divestiture, improve customer experiences, and drive innovation for growth and competitive pricing.

Niyogi added, "Leveraging TCS' extensive industry knowledge and cutting-edge retail technology solutions, we will help Asda create a future-ready digital infrastructure to support their growth and transformation."

This agreement is distinct because it involves building Asda's digital infrastructure from the ground up without any legacy technology.

TCS will also assist in replacing legacy systems from Asda's former parent company, Walmart, with a new cloud-first digital infrastructure. Walmart sold Asda to TDR Capital and the Issa Brothers two years ago, allowing the British retailer to use Walmart's digital infrastructure during the transition.

Asda CEO Mohsin Issa said, "We partnered with TCS due to their expertise in retail technology transformation and innovation. We're excited to work together to accelerate our digital transformation and unlock our business's potential."
