Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, SpaceX, X (formerly known as Twitter), and a new AI startup called xAI, discussed the future of artificial intelligence (AI).

Following the world's inaugural AI Safety Summit held in the UK, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak engaged in an interview with Elon Musk. The discussion centered on Musk's perspectives regarding generative AI and the necessity for regulating this technology. Musk emphasized that with proper AI regulation, a future may arise where employment becomes unnecessary. He also expressed gratitude to UK PM Rishi Sunak for including China in the dialogue on AI regulation.

In Musk's conversation with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, he remarked, "It's challenging to pinpoint the exact moment, but there will be a time when employment becomes redundant. People can choose to work for personal fulfillment, but AI will be capable of handling all tasks."

Elon Musk, the proprietor of Tesla, SpaceX, X (formerly Twitter), and a fresh AI startup known as xAI, addressed the future consequences of artificial intelligence (AI). Musk envisions AI as possibly the most transformative force in history, ultimately rendering human employment unnecessary.

Musk predicts that a time will arrive when AI surpasses even the most brilliant human intellect. At that juncture, individuals will only engage in work if they desire it for personal fulfillment, as AI will possess the ability to handle all tasks. Musk playfully suggested that this notion could evoke both comfort and discomfort among people.

Musk drew an analogy between AI and a boundless wish-granting genie, highlighting its immense potential. Nonetheless, he also sounded a cautionary note about the risks that AI poses to humanity. He has previously expressed concerns that AI might be a greater peril than nuclear weapons and has advocated for a pause in the development of AI surpassing OpenAI's GPT-4 software. Musk remarked, "If you have access to a genie that fulfills your every wish without constraints, it has its pros and cons. A forthcoming challenge will be discerning how to discover purpose in our lives."

Musk's statements followed a pivotal summit at Bletchley Park, England, where global leaders discussed AI's risks and doomsday scenarios. The U.S. and China, despite their tech disputes, collaborated to find a global consensus on AI's safe development and regulation.
