Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), has entered the elite centi-billionaires club, boasting a net worth exceeding $100 billion. Ambani's wealth surged as Reliance Industries Ltd reached new record highs, contributing to his ascent in the global wealth rankings.
According to data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mukesh Ambani saw an addition of $2.76 billion in the previous trading session, bringing his total wealth to $102 billion. He currently holds the 12th position among the centi-billionaires, with Mexican business magnate Carlos Slim being only $1 billion ahead. The Bloomberg's Billionaires Index comprises just a dozen individuals in the centi-billionaires category.
Reliance Industries shares experienced a nearly 3% gain, reaching Rs 2,724.95 during the Thursday trading session and eventually settling at Rs 2,718.40, marking a 2.58% increase. The total market capitalization of RIL reached the Rs 18.40 lakh crore mark. The stock has witnessed a 5% increase in the last two trading sessions and a 12% gain in the past month.
The recently demerged NBFC Jio Financial Services (JFSL) has also contributed to Ambani's recent wealth surge. JFSL gained over 4.6% to close at Rs 251.50 on Thursday, with a total market capitalization of nearly Rs 1.6 lakh crore on BSE.
Other entities from Ambani's conglomerate have displayed notable performance recently. Network18 Media Investment Ltd recorded a 10% gain, closing at Rs 130.81 on Thursday, marking a 45% rally in the year 2024. TV18 Broadcast Ltd ended higher, witnessing over a 20% gain in the last five trading sessions, with a market cap exceeding Rs 11,100 crore. Similarly, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure Ltd (RIIL) gained over 7.2% to Rs 1515.65, reflecting a 35% increase in a month.
Following the demerger of JFSL from RIL, investors are eagerly anticipating the primary offerings of Reliance Retail and Jio Platforms, as hinted by Ambani in previous AGMs. However, no official announcements have been made yet.
In the Bloomberg's Billionaires Index, Elon Musk of Tesla maintains the top spot with a wealth of $212 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos of Amazon ($180 billion) and Bernard Arnault ($164 billion). Among Indians, Gautam Adani holds the 14th spot with a total wealth of $96.2 billion.
