Until at least October, Samsung has affirmed that this feature will remain exclusive to Google and Samsung devices.

The 'Circle to Search' AI feature, currently limited to Google and Samsung devices, is poised to expand its availability to other Android devices. Initially introduced by Google for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Samsung also unveiled this feature for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Nevertheless, Samsung has declared that this functionality will stay exclusive to Google and Samsung devices, at least until October. The specific statement originates from Samsung's branch in the Netherlands. As per the translated statement, Samsung's Dutch website conveyed, "The Circle to Search functionality will only be accessible on Samsung and Google devices until September of this year."

The exclusivity has raised concerns, with some questioning whether Google and Samsung see the Circle to Search feature as a compelling reason for users to buy an S24 or Pixel 8. This development has also sparked worries about the openness of the Android ecosystem, often praised for its more open nature compared to Apple's closed environment.

What does the Circle-to-Search feature entail?

The Circle-to-Search feature enables smartphone users to circle any object or subject on the screen for a prompt internet search. This functionality aids users in swiftly finding, buying, or researching items or topics visible on their screens. A comparable feature is accessible through the Google Lens application. Initially launched with the Samsung Galaxy S24, it was subsequently extended to eligible Google Pixel devices.
