Synopsis: JSW MG Motor India will enter the luxury car segment with two new vehicle launches in early 2025, targeting the ‘accessible luxury’ market. Through its new retail brand, MG Select, the company aims to attract new-age consumers with four electric and hybrid vehicles over the next two years. Exclusive experience centers will be established in 12 cities during the first year. The move is part of a broader strategy to meet the growing demand for luxury vehicles in India.

JSW MG Motor India, a joint venture between China's SAIC Motor and JSW Group, is set to make its mark in the luxury car segment by launching two new vehicles in 2025. According to Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor, the company plans to target the ‘accessible luxury’ segment, which is experiencing increasing demand from new-age buyers in India. In addition to these launches, the company is preparing to introduce four electric vehicles (EVs) over the next two years.

One of the key strategies to tap into this segment includes the launch of a new retail brand called ‘MG Select,’ which aims to offer premium entry-level luxury cars for modern consumers. The company will also establish exclusive experience centers in 12 cities across India in the first year of the MG Select rollout. These experience centers will focus on creating a personalized luxury experience for customers.

The upcoming MG Select portfolio will feature a diverse range of vehicles, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric vehicles. However, MG Select will not limit itself to electric vehicles alone, offering a variety of body styles and vehicle types to cater to different customer needs. The company’s existing six models, including the Hector, Astor, Comet EV, and Windsor EV, will continue to serve the mainstream market through its current sales network.

The luxury car market in India is relatively small, comprising just 1% of the overall automotive industry, which saw 42 lakh units sold last year. This segment is currently dominated by brands like BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz, with entry-level luxury cars priced around Rs 45 lakh. JSW MG Motor aims to expand consumer choices in this category by offering accessible luxury options.

JSW MG Motor's plans also include expanding the MG Select brand to more cities over time, starting with an initial presence in 12 cities in 2025.
