Markets Rebound: Sensex Soars 900 Points, Nifty Above 24,850 – ITC Shines, Sun Pharma Stumbles

Market Snapshot – Bulls Take Charge, But Caution Lingers

Friday’s market session kicked off on a high note as Indian benchmark indices surged, reflecting improved investor sentiment after recent volatility. The Sensex soared over 900 points in early trade, while the Nifty crossed the 24,850 mark, supported by strong buying in FMCG and IT counters.

Despite the rebound, analysts remain cautious due to foreign fund outflow concerns and the weakening US fiscal outlook, which continue to hover over market sentiment.

Sectoral Snapshot

Nifty IT and FMCG indices rose nearly 1%, bolstered by positive Q4 updates from major players.

Pharma and Healthcare sectors lagged, falling 0.9% and 0.7%, respectively.

Broader markets also joined the rally – Nifty Midcap100 and Smallcap100 gained 0.3% each.

Top Market Movers

Gainers:

Honasa Consumer: Surged 12% after posting 13% YoY revenue growth.

ITC: Climbed 2% as Q4 adjusted PAT rose 3% YoY to ₹5,155 crore.

Grasim Industries: Up 3% on 9% YoY profit growth.

Trent and BEL: Gained up to 3% following announcement of inclusion in the Sensex (effective June 23).

Losers:

Sun Pharma: Slumped 5% after reporting a 19% YoY fall in Q4 net profit to ₹2,154 crore.

Expert Take

Analysts suggest today’s rally is largely driven by stock-specific action and positive earnings updates, but advise caution due to macroeconomic headwinds such as foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows and US debt worries.
