October 2025 Bank Holidays – Detailed Update

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the holiday calendar for October 2025, confirming that banks will remain closed for 15 official holidays in addition to weekend offs, making it a total of 21 days of non-working days for banks in different states.

It is important to note that not all holidays are applicable nationwide. While festivals like Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, and Diwali are observed across India, certain holidays such as Kati Bihu in Assam or Kumar Purnima in Odisha are state-specific.

RBI classifies bank holidays under three categories:
  1. Negotiable Instruments Act Holiday
  2. Negotiable Instruments Act & Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) Holiday
  3. Banks’ Closing of Accounts
This means holiday observances will vary depending on regional festivities and state government notifications.
