Sebi Revises Bank Nifty Composition
Adding to today’s market buzz, Sebi also issued a fresh notification revising the Bank Nifty index rules. Going forward, the Bank Nifty will comprise 14 stocks (up from 12 currently), with a 20% cap on the top stock’s weightage, reduced from 33%.
Additionally, the combined weight of the top three banks will now be capped at 45%. The revised structure will be rolled out in four phases, starting December 2025. This move aims to bring better balance and diversification to one of the most tracked indices in India.
