Stock Market LIVE: Sensex Soars 600 Points, Nifty Near Record High; Bank Nifty Hits All-Time Peak

Sensex Today | Nifty 50 | Stock Market LIVE Updates — October 17, 2025:

Indian equities witnessed a strong uptrend on Friday as investors continued to bet on corporate earnings recovery and steady foreign inflows. Despite a soft opening due to weakness in IT shares, the broader market sentiment turned bullish through the session.

At mid-day, the BSE Sensex surged over 600 points, while the Nifty 50 climbed above 25,750, marking a fresh 52-week high. The Nifty Bank index stole the spotlight, hitting a record high of 57,828.30, up nearly 10,000 points from its March low. The India VIX, however, rose 5%, indicating rising volatility amid profit-booking at higher levels.

Most sectors traded in the green, led by Auto, Consumer Durables, FMCG, Banking, and Healthcare, while IT and Media stocks underperformed. Market experts said investor optimism is being driven by robust earnings momentum and consistent foreign fund inflows.

“Banking and auto sectors are seeing healthy traction ahead of the festive season. The rally is well supported by liquidity and improving economic indicators,” said a market strategist.

In global markets, sentiment was mixed as Asian indices slipped amid global rate uncertainty and weak cues from the US futures market. The S&P 500 futures dropped 0.4%, Nikkei 225 futures declined 1.5%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 1.6%. Meanwhile, Euro Stoxx 50 futures also traded 0.8% lower.

Despite global jitters, Indian markets continue to outperform, with analysts predicting sustained momentum if earnings remain upbeat and geopolitical tensions stay contained.
