Synopsis: India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has partnered with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to provide free doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) services for pensioners. The initiative ensures that retirees can complete their annual life certificate verification from the comfort of their homes.
Senior citizens and pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 can now submit their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) without stepping out of their homes. In a major convenience boost, the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to deliver doorstep DLC services across India.
This collaboration will help millions of pensioners avoid the hassle of visiting bank branches or EPFO offices for manual life certificate submissions. Instead, trained postal staff and Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) will visit pensioners’ homes to complete the process digitally.
Free Service for EPFO Pensioners
In a welcome move, EPFO will bear the entire cost of issuing the Digital Life Certificate, making this service completely free of charge for all EPFO pensioners.
The doorstep agents are equipped with biometric authentication devices and face recognition technology, enabling quick and paperless certificate submission through Aadhaar verification.
This initiative will leverage India Post’s vast network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and more than 3 lakh postal service providers, ensuring accessibility even in remote and rural areas.
How to Book Doorstep Digital Life Certificate Service
Booking the service is simple and can be done in just a few steps:
- Visit the official India Post website: https://ccc.cept.gov.in/ServiceRequest/request.aspx
- Alternatively, download the “Post Info” app from the Play Store or App Store.
- Choose ‘Doorstep Banking’ or ‘Digital Life Certificate’ service.
- Fill in your basic details (name, address, mobile number, and EPFO pension ID).
- Confirm the request and schedule a convenient time slot for doorstep service.
Once the service is completed, the pensioner will receive an SMS confirmation on their registered mobile number. The generated Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) can be viewed online the next day on the official Jeevan Pramaan website.
Background of the Initiative
India Post introduced the doorstep DLC service in 2020, allowing pensioners to generate their Jeevan Pramaan using Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication. The system reduces the turnaround time and ensures that pensioners can continue receiving their monthly pensions without interruptions.
This new collaboration between EPFO and IPPB takes the initiative a step further by covering all operational costs, making the service free and accessible to every eligible pensioner across India.
The move aligns with the government’s Digital India mission and aims to make citizen services more efficient, transparent, and inclusive—especially for senior citizens who often face mobility challenges.
