Microsoft has already made substantial progress, having trained 2.4 million people in just one year—surpassing its 2025 goal well ahead of time. Notably, a majority of the trainees came from Tier-II and Tier-III cities, and 65% of them were women.

Ahead of Nadella’s arrival, an important strategic meeting took place on Tuesday between Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal and Lisa Monaco, President of Microsoft Global Affairs. Goyal stated on X that the meeting focused on Microsoft’s continued commitment to India, particularly around AI-led innovation, infrastructure strengthening, and digital collaboration. The discussion also explored new opportunities to deepen the India–US partnership in areas like AI, digital trade, and workforce development.
