Synopsis : Coffee Day Global, the operator of Café Coffee Day, returned to profitability in FY26 with a net profit of ₹14 crore, compared to a loss in the previous year. Growth in revenue, stronger operating performance and expansion of its vending machine business supported the turnaround.
Coffee Day Global, the company behind the popular Café Coffee Day chain, reported a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹14 crore for FY26, marking a significant turnaround from the loss recorded in the previous financial year.
The company had reported a net loss of ₹175.92 crore in FY25, making FY26 its first profitable year after a period of financial challenges.
Revenue from operations increased by 5.7% year-on-year to ₹1,094 crore during FY26, compared with ₹1,034.63 crore in the previous fiscal year.
The improvement in profitability was supported by stronger operational performance. Operating profit rose 28% year-on-year to ₹198 crore, reflecting better cost management and improved business efficiency.
Coffee Day Global's Average Sales Per Day (ASPD), a key metric for retail café performance, increased marginally to ₹21,101 during FY26 from ₹21,016 in FY25, indicating stable customer demand despite a challenging consumer environment.
However, the café network continued to contract during the year. The number of Café Coffee Day outlets declined to 424 at the end of FY26 from 435 outlets a year earlier as the company focused on improving profitability and optimizing its store portfolio.
The company's Same Store Sales Growth (SSSG), which measures sales performance at existing outlets, remained under pressure and stood at negative 1.72% during FY26.
In contrast, Coffee Day Global's vending machine business continued to expand steadily. The number of installed vending machines increased to 55,802 by the end of FY26, compared with 54,100 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
The growth of the vending segment highlights the company's increasing focus on institutional and corporate beverage solutions alongside its café operations.
Parent company Coffee Day Enterprises Ltd (CDEL) also reported a strong recovery during FY26. The company posted a profit after tax of ₹210.14 crore, compared with a net loss of ₹143.20 crore in FY25.
Revenue from operations at Coffee Day Enterprises increased 2.55% year-on-year to ₹1,154.40 crore during FY26.
The return to profitability for both Coffee Day Global and Coffee Day Enterprises marks an important milestone in the group's ongoing turnaround efforts, supported by operational improvements, cost optimization and growth in non-café business segments.
