Synopsis : Juniper Green Energy has secured a major renewable energy project from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), receiving a Letter of Award for a 230 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy Round-the-Clock (FDRE-RTC) project. The project will supply electricity at a tariff of Rs 5.26 per unit and is expected to strengthen the company's position in India's rapidly expanding renewable energy market.
The Letter of Award, dated August 14, 2026, covers a contracted capacity of 230 MW that will be connected to India's Inter-State Transmission System. The project will involve the construction, commissioning and operation of the renewable energy facility, with Juniper Green Energy responsible for delivering the contracted power capacity under the agreement.
The company will enter into a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with SECI. Commercial operations are expected to begin within 24 months from the effective date of the PPA. This long-term agreement provides Juniper Green Energy with a contracted revenue opportunity over several years while adding another large project to its growing renewable energy portfolio.
The project is structured as a Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy Round-the-Clock project, making it different from conventional standalone solar or wind projects. FDRE-RTC projects are designed to provide more reliable and predictable renewable power by combining generation sources and, where required, energy storage solutions.
Juniper Green Energy said the project is domestic in nature and has been awarded by a domestic entity. The company also clarified that there is no involvement of its promoters or promoter group companies on the awarding side and that the contract does not qualify as a related-party transaction.
The award adds to Juniper Green Energy's already significant project pipeline. According to the company, it is among India's top 10 largest renewable independent power producers based on total capacity.
Juniper Green Energy develops, constructs, operates and maintains renewable energy projects through its in-house engineering, procurement, construction and operations and maintenance teams. Its portfolio includes solar, wind, wind-solar hybrid and Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy projects, along with battery energy storage systems.
As of August 12, 2026, the company's overall portfolio stood at approximately 10,247 MWp spread across 50 projects in four Indian states. This portfolio demonstrates the scale of the company's expansion as India's power sector increasingly shifts towards renewable generation and energy storage.
Of the total portfolio, approximately 2,575 MWp along with 503 MWh of battery storage capacity was operational. Another 3,490 MWp with 3,010 MWh of battery storage was under construction as contracted projects, while approximately 4,181 MWp with 1,050 MWh of battery storage was under construction as awarded projects.
The growing importance of battery storage is particularly relevant to Juniper Green Energy's FDRE strategy. Solar and wind generation can vary depending on weather and time of day, while energy storage can help renewable power projects deliver electricity according to contracted schedules. This makes hybrid renewable projects increasingly important as India seeks to integrate larger amounts of clean energy into its electricity grid.
The 230 MW SECI award therefore represents more than just an increase in Juniper Green Energy's installed project pipeline. It also strengthens the company's presence in the firm and dispatchable renewable energy segment, which is expected to play a larger role as utilities and large electricity consumers seek reliable renewable power.
The Rs 5.26 per unit tariff will be another important factor for the project. Under the long-term PPA, Juniper Green Energy will supply the contracted capacity to SECI for 25 years after the project's commercial operations begin. The long duration of the agreement provides visibility over the project's contracted revenue, although project execution, financing, construction costs and operating performance will remain important factors.
Juniper Green Energy is a wholly owned subsidiary of Juniper Renewable Holdings, which is 75.01 per cent owned by AT Holdings.
The latest order comes as India continues to expand its renewable energy capacity and develop projects that can provide power more consistently. Government-backed auctions through entities such as SECI are increasingly focusing not only on renewable generation capacity but also on the ability to deliver power in a firm and predictable manner.
For Juniper Green Energy, the latest award adds another sizeable project to a portfolio that already includes thousands of megawatts of operational, contracted and awarded capacity. The company's growing exposure to solar, wind, hybrid renewable projects and battery storage gives it multiple avenues to participate in India's energy transition.
From an investor perspective, the key factors to watch will include the signing of the PPA, timely execution of the 230 MW project, financing and construction costs, as well as the company's ability to convert its large awarded and under-construction pipeline into operational assets.
Juniper Green Energy's share price was down 0.56 per cent at the market opening on August 17, 2026. The stock was also down 3.24 per cent over the previous month and 3.24 per cent over the previous year.
Overall, the SECI award marks another important step in Juniper Green Energy's expansion. With a 230 MW FDRE-RTC project, a Rs 5.26 per unit tariff and a 25-year PPA, the project provides the company with a long-term opportunity to expand its renewable energy footprint while participating in India's growing demand for reliable clean power.
