In 2023, the mango exports from India to the USA have achieved remarkable success. Industry experts attribute this achievement to the significant Indian diaspora, comprising 4.7 million individuals, which has been the key driver behind the growing demand for various Indian mango varieties in the North American country.

2023 has witnessed exports of mangoes from India to the USA have a twofold increase.

The success of this year's mango crop can be attributed to favorable weather conditions and an early start to the mango season in India. These factors have played a crucial role in ensuring an abundant and high-quality harvest.

Indian mango producers have benefited from optimal growing conditions, resulting in a plentiful harvest that can meet the rising demand in the USA. It is projected that the current season will double the volume achieved in 2022, serving as a significant milestone for the Indian mango industry.

Kaushal Khakhar, CEO of Kay Bee Exports, emphasized the global demand for Indian mangoes, particularly in countries with a substantial Indian-origin population. He cited the example of the United Kingdom, where 70% of the total Indian population in Europe resides. Collaborative programs have been established with major retailers in the UK to supply mangoes throughout the three-month season. Additionally, he mentioned the success of Indian mangoes in Japan, a country that values the aesthetic appearance of fresh produce.

"With the increasing demand for Indian mangoes, this year's export volume is expected to surpass 2,000 tonnes, doubling the volume of the previous year. The fruits available are of excellent quality, thanks to the high temperatures experienced since February. The season started a few weeks earlier in mid-March and is anticipated to continue until the second half of June. To meet the growing demand in the USA, a fourth irradiation facility has been opened in Gujarat, complementing the existing facilities in Maharashtra and Karnataka. These strategically located facilities near mango-growing regions and international airports enable efficient shipping of the fruits after treatment," he explained.

One notable characteristic of Indian mangoes is their exclusive air-freighted transportation, ensuring the preservation of their aromatic essence and unparalleled freshness throughout transit.
