According to the Ministry of Education, India and Singapore have agreed to prioritize lifelong learning, the development of a future-ready workforce, and the establishment of knowledge and skill development as a crucial pillar of their strategic partnership. Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister, is currently on a three-day visit to Singapore to strengthen existing ties and explore opportunities for expanding bilateral engagement in education and skill development.

During his visit, Pradhan had productive meetings with various key ministers of the Singapore Government and paid a visit to Spectra Secondary School on Monday. The ministry stated that Pradhan had a constructive discussion with Lawrence Wong, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Singapore, focused on enhancing cooperation between India and Singapore in skill development. The ministry's statement highlighted their agreement to work together towards creating lifelong learning opportunities, developing a future-ready workforce, and making knowledge and skill development a key pillar of the strategic partnership.


Later in the day, Pradhan visited Spectra Secondary School, where he interacted with students and teachers to gain insights into the teaching-learning environment and pedagogy.


The ministry also mentioned an insightful discussion between Pradhan and Gan Kim Yong, Singapore's Minister of Trade and Industry. They had fruitful conversations about strengthening skill development and vocational training linkages, as well as leveraging Singapore's expertise and knowledge to address common challenges and transform India's skills ecosystem, building upon the outcomes of the G20 Future of Work workshop in Bhubaneswar.


Furthermore, the ministry noted that Pradhan had the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of the best practices and models implemented in Singapore for workforce training. Both ministers expressed their commitment to advancing mutual priorities in skilling, creating new opportunities for lifelong learning, and collaborating for the benefit of their respective countries as well as other emerging economies.
