Zomato Halts 'Xtreme' Hyperlocal Delivery and Revives 'Legends' Intercity Service

Zomato has ceased its 'Xtreme' hyperlocal delivery service due to insufficient demand and has reintroduced its 'Legends' intercity food delivery service. 'Xtreme' was launched in October last year to transport small packages using Zomato's existing delivery fleet, competing with services like Porter and Dunzo. However, it failed to gain the expected traction, leading to its discontinuation.

An executive from Zomato described 'Xtreme' as an experimental venture aimed at providing high-quality delivery services directly from restaurants. Despite the effort, the service did not meet the anticipated demand and was subsequently removed from the Google Play Store without an official comment from the company.

In contrast, Zomato has relaunched its 'Legends' service, which facilitates the delivery of food from renowned restaurants in one city to customers in another. The updated version of 'Legends' now delivers directly from restaurants and requires a minimum order of Rs 5,000. This service is currently available in select cities like Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, with plans for expansion.

The original launch of 'Legends' in 2022 involved delivering pre-stocked items from other cities, which did not meet customer expectations and faced legal challenges. This led to its suspension in April. The revised approach aims to address previous shortcomings and improve customer satisfaction by ensuring fresh deliveries from famous eateries.
