Karnataka has emerged as India’s leader in per capita income for 2024–25, with its Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) at constant prices reaching Rs 2,04,605, reflecting a staggering 93.6% growth from Rs 1,05,697 in 2014–15. This milestone, presented by the Ministry of Finance in the Lok Sabha, highlights Karnataka’s consistent and resilient economic expansion over the past decade.
Nationally, India’s per capita Net National Income for the same period stands at Rs 1,14,710, up 57.6% from a decade ago, underscoring Karnataka’s outperformance relative to the national growth rate. Tamil Nadu follows Karnataka with a per capita income of Rs 1,96,309, while other states like Odisha and Mizoram have shown notable decade-long growth, indicating gradual narrowing of regional disparities in some areas.
The latest year-on-year data shows Karnataka’s per capita income increased by 6.6% from Rs 1,91,970 in 2023–24 to Rs 2,04,605 in 2024–25, reflecting its sustained economic momentum driven by strong sectoral performance, robust infrastructure growth, and expanding services and manufacturing sectors. However, the Ministry noted disparities across states, attributing uneven growth to differences in economic development, governance, and sectoral strengths.
As Karnataka sets a benchmark for income growth and economic health, the government reiterates its commitment to inclusive growth under “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” with targeted schemes aiming to further reduce poverty and drive equitable growth across states.
