The Indian equity markets started the week positively on Monday, supported by robust buying in IT and banking stocks. Investor sentiment turned upbeat as both Sensex and Nifty advanced, aided by renewed institutional interest and optimism in large-cap counters.
At 11:00 AM, the BSE Sensex climbed 320 points or 0.39% to 81,527, while the NSE Nifty50 rose 93 points or 0.37% to 24,987.
Top gainers on the Sensex included Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finserv, HCL Tech, ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank, TCS, Trent, and Infosys, with some counters gaining up to 3%.
In the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap 100 index was up 0.30%, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 advanced 0.11%, indicating sustained buying interest in small and mid-cap segments.
Among sectoral indices, Nifty Bank gained 0.55%, while Financial Services and IT indices rose 0.7% each. However, Nifty Metal and Pharma were top laggards, slipping 0.8% and 0.6%, respectively.
Buzzing Stocks:
Aditya Birla Lifestyle surged over 9% intraday after Flipkart Investments sold its entire 6% stake in the company via block deals.
Other notable gainers included Delhivery, BSE Ltd, Fortis, MCX Ltd, Nykaa, M&M Finance, AU Small Finance Bank, and YES Bank.
IPO Corner:
In the mainboard category, the highly anticipated Tata Capital IPO opened for subscription today.
In the SME segment, shares of KVS Castings, Rukmani Devi Garg Agro Impex, M P K Steels (I), Ameenji Rubber, Manas Polymers & Energies, and Bhavik Enterprises debuted on exchanges. Meanwhile, IPOs of DSM Fresh Foods, Greenleaf Envirotech, and Shlokka Dyes are set to close for subscription today.
