Indian equity benchmarks opened on a cautious note on Thursday, tracking weakness across Asian markets and extending losses for a fourth straight session. Sentiment also remained fragile due to the weekly expiry of Sensex derivatives contracts, which added to intraday volatility.


Despite early pressure, the Sensex managed to edge higher, supported by selective buying in IT and banking stocks. As of 11:00 AM, the BSE Sensex stood at 84,589.77, up around 30 points (0.04%), while the NSE Nifty50 slipped 21.60 points (0.08%) to 25,840.15.


Stock-Specific Action

On the downside, Sun Pharma, TMPV, M&M, NTPC, Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Bank, Tata Steel, and BEL were among the top losers, falling up to 2%.

On the positive side, Infosys, Axis Bank, TCS, HCL Technologies, and ITC attracted buying interest and emerged as top gainers.
