Stock Market LIVE: Sensex Gains 400 Points, Nifty Near 23,000; Nifty IT Jumps 2%

At around 11:00 AM, the Sensex was up 321.26 points, or 0.43%, at 74,174.16, while the Nifty 50 advanced 66 points, or 0.29%, to 22,954.95.

Buying interest was particularly strong in the IT sector, with the Nifty IT index emerging as the top-performing sector during the session.

Nifty 50 Today: IT Stocks Lead Gains

The benchmark Nifty 50 was trading above 22,950, supported by gains in heavyweight stocks.

Among the top Nifty 50 gainers were:

  • Infosys
  • Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)
  • UltraTech Cement

The strong performance of major IT stocks helped lift the broader market as investors responded positively to global equity trends.

Nifty IT Gains 2%

The Nifty IT index emerged as the best-performing sector, gaining around 2% during the session.

IT majors such as Infosys and TCS were among the leading contributors to the market's gains. The sector's performance will remain in focus as investors track global technology spending, currency movements and upcoming corporate earnings.

On the other hand, the Nifty Chemical index was the biggest sectoral laggard, indicating continued stock-specific selling pressure within the space.

Broader Markets Mixed

The broader market remained relatively subdued despite gains in the headline indices.

The Nifty MidCap 100 index rose 0.02%, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 index declined 0.09%.

The mixed performance suggests that buying interest was concentrated in selected large-cap stocks rather than being broad-based across the market.

Q2FY27 Results Today

Investors are also keeping a close eye on the ongoing Q2FY27 earnings season, with several companies scheduled to announce their second-quarter results on Monday.

  • The companies include:
  • Adani Green Energy
  • Eternal
  • International Gemological Institute
  • Indian Hotels Company
  • KEI Industries
  • Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services
  • PC Jeweller
  • Indosolar
  • Welspun Speciality Solutions

The earnings announcements could trigger increased volatility in individual stocks as investors assess revenue growth, profitability, margins and management commentary.

Market Outlook

The recovery in the Sensex and Nifty comes amid supportive global equity cues. With the Nifty approaching the 23,000 psychological level, market participants will closely watch whether the index can sustain its upward momentum.

The performance of IT heavyweights, global market trends and the ongoing Q2 earnings season are likely to remain key factors influencing trading sentiment in the near term.

For investors, the focus will remain on whether the current recovery develops into a broader market rebound or remains limited to selected sectors and large-cap stocks.
