The festive mood lit up Dalal Street on Diwali 2025, as Indian equities rallied sharply amid positive investor sentiment and strong buying across key sectors.
At 11:00 AM, the BSE Sensex surged 573 points or 0.68% to 84,525, while the Nifty50 advanced 169 points or 0.66% to 25,879. The rally was broad-based, with both large-cap and midcap counters witnessing solid gains.
Reliance Industries stole the spotlight, soaring over 3%, emerging as the top gainer on the Sensex. Other major performers included Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, Axis Bank, TCS, and State Bank of India, which gained up to 2% each. On the flip side, ICICI Bank slipped 2.2% on profit booking after its Q2 results, while Ultratech Cement and M&M were among the other laggards.
In the broader market, the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices rose 0.66% and 0.52%, respectively, signaling continued investor appetite for mid-tier and small-cap companies. The Bank Nifty hit a fresh record high, rising 0.7%, as financial stocks extended their winning streak.
