Google’s $15 Billion Bet on Andhra Pradesh: CM Naidu Says State Will Become a Global AI & Data Centre Hub

Google’s $15bn India Investment: Andhra Pradesh to Become Global Hub for Data Centres, Says CM Naidu

As the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) 30th Partnership Summit 2025 unfolds in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh is emerging as India’s newest futuristic tech capital. Adding momentum to this transformation is Google's landmark investment — a massive $15 billion AI data centre project in the state.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, speaking about Google’s upcoming project, revealed that the tech giant plans to expand its investment even further after the initial five-year phase. Calling it a “win-win situation,” he emphasised that Andhra Pradesh is ready to welcome a new era of AI-driven growth.

A Mega AI Data Centre in the Making

Google’s Visakhapatnam AI data centre is poised to become one of the largest AI infrastructure projects outside the United States, marking Google’s biggest investment in India to date. The project will see collaboration with AdaniConneX and Bharti Airtel, strengthening the region’s digital backbone with world-class cloud and AI capabilities.

Furthermore, Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, has also committed to setting up a 1 GW AI data centre in the state, underscoring Andhra Pradesh’s rising prominence in the global technology map.

Naidu’s Big Vision: $1 Trillion Investments in a Decade

Buoyed by this influx of global interest, CM Naidu has set ambitious targets for the state:

Aim for 15% annual economic growth

Attract $1 trillion in investments over the next 10 years

Develop 6 GW of data centre capacity by 2029

Calling it a “game changer,” Naidu highlighted how companies worldwide are now eyeing Andhra Pradesh as a strategic technology and innovation hub.

Global Recognition and Strategic Timing

Google Cloud’s CEO earlier stated that this will be the company’s largest AI hub outside the US, reflecting its importance in Google’s global network of AI facilities across 12 countries.

The announcement also comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump is pushing an “America First” agenda. Despite this, Google’s India expansion shows the strategic value of tapping into India’s growing digital ecosystem and talent landscape.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai reaffirmed the project’s significance, noting that the new facility will accelerate AI innovation and boost growth across India.

CII Partnership Summit: A Massive Success for AP

The ongoing summit has already attracted global attention, with investment commitments of ₹13.25 lakh crore. CM Naidu stressed that the event was not only about investment but also about knowledge sharing and industrial strategy, setting the blueprint for Andhra Pradesh’s future.

He outlined regional development goals:

Rayalaseema : Horticulture & industrial hub

Coastal AP : Aqua hub

Visakhapatnam : AI hub with a world-class data centre cluster

With global leaders and tech giants joining forces, Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to become one of the world’s most important data and AI hubs.
