Banking on Balance: SBI Launches Mega Upskilling & Wellness Drive for 2.37 Lakh Employees

In a landmark move combining financial literacy and holistic wellness, State Bank of India (SBI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) India to upskill 2.36 lakh employees. This sweeping initiative is designed to elevate financial advisory quality and instill globally aligned planning capabilities across SBI’s vast physical and digital network.

The training will focus on crucial domains such as investment planning, insurance advisory, retirement preparedness, and estate planning, catering to specialized client segments including NRIs, High Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs), and Ultra-HNIs. According to SBI’s Country Head for Wealth Management, Sandeep Sharma, this partnership will integrate world-class standards into the bank’s learning ecosystem, ensuring its workforce is equipped for the financial challenges of tomorrow.

Krishan Mishra, CEO of FPSB India, hailed the partnership as a "landmark moment" for India’s evolving financial ecosystem, reinforcing the need for standardized, high-quality financial advisory practices across institutions.

But SBI isn’t stopping at skill-building alone.

As part of its commitment to employee well-being, and in celebration of International Yoga Day, the bank orchestrated virtual yoga sessions for all 2.37 lakh employees, with 400 employees and senior leaders participating in person. SBI Chairman C S Setty noted that this event reaffirmed the bank's belief in the transformative power of yoga—not just for health, but as a pillar of sustainability and productivity.

The bank aims to nurture a mindful and balanced work culture, combining professional growth with personal wellness. This holistic approach, rooted in both skill and spirit, reflects SBI’s vision of building a future-ready and resilient financial workforce.
